Should you use winter tyres, this winter?

With the winter conditions on its way and there have been predictions that this winter will be as bad as last year, driving will be difficult and there is a growing trend that drivers will be using winter tires this winter, though the use of these tires are causing some controversy.

As there are some insurance companies who classify the changing the normal tires to winter tires, a modification to the car and therefore means that their premiums will increase. This is why a certain car insurance company, have said as long the tyres are to the specification of the cars and are fitted professionally then the insurance company does not need to be notified.

If you find that your insurance company does not allow the use of the winter tyres, you can always change insurance companies.

The speed limit could be increased to 80mph

The government are looking into increasing the speed limit on UK motorways from 70mph to 80mph, this is in order to help the UK economy in order to prevent another recession. As the current limit of 70mph, is 50 years old and completely out of date. The increase in the speed limit would be inline with today’s drivers as the technology of cars and the safety equipment has dramatically changed for the better.

The fact that the current speed limit is 50 years old and that almost all drivers have broken the speed limit, only adds to the pressure of increasing the limit. Along with the reason of increasing the speed limit in order to help the UK Economy, this change is more likely.

Nearly all drivers are driving faster then the speed limit

With life today being always on the go, it seems that this is evident with driving, with UK drivers driving faster then the regulated 70mph on motorways and dual carriage ways. An shocking 90% drive faster then 70 mph, which means that at some point nearly all drivers have broken the speed limit at some point.

This rise in the unofficial speed limit has come at a time when the transport secretary Philip Hammond is reconsidering to raise the speed limit on a motorway and dual carriageway from 70mph to 80mph.

Not enough electric cars on the road

Car insurance fraud increases car insurance premiums

Insurance fraud has increased in recent years with over 100,000 claims. The types of fraudulent insurance claims affect a range of insurance policies from household to personal injury, with the amount increasing every year, it is thought that this problem will only get worse and therefore the Insurance Fraud Bureau are clamping down on this matter.
