The speed limit could be increased to 80mph
The government are looking into increasing the speed limit on UK motorways from 70mph to 80mph, this is in order to help the UK economy in order to prevent another recession. As the current limit of 70mph, is 50 years old and completely out of date. The increase in the speed limit would be inline with today’s drivers as the technology of cars and the safety equipment has dramatically changed for the better.
The fact that the current speed limit is 50 years old and that almost all drivers have broken the speed limit, only adds to the pressure of increasing the limit. Along with the reason of increasing the speed limit in order to help the UK Economy, this change is more likely.
